More than 100 biochemical tests can be used to test for a variety of conditions and nutritional and chemical imbalances. At your first consultation we can discuss which test, if any, would be most suited to determining the root cause of your health issues. If you are sure you wish to take a particular test, and are clear about the reasons why you want a test and what it has to offer then I can arrange a test for you before your first appointment. Prices vary between £60 to £400.
Hormone Profiles
Most of our body systems are controlled by our hormones. However, poor diet, stressful lifestyles and exposure to toxins can disrupt hormonal levels, meaning they become too high or too low and no longer do their jobs efficiently. Hormones commonly tested include those produced by the THYROID (which regulates our metabolism), the ADRENALS (stress hormones) and FEMALE AND MALE SEX HORMONES (OESTROGEN, PROGESTERONE, TESTOSTERONE) these influence menstrual cycles in women and fertility and mood in both sexes. Disruption of these hormones can have profound effects on our health. If an imbalance is found, following assessment of these substances in our blood or saliva, nutritional and lifestyle intervention can frequently balance these out over the following months.
Adrenal Stress Test
Depression and menstrual disorders may be associated with high cortisol levels.
Thyroid Screen
Low thyroid function can produce many symptoms of ill health and often produces
depression and weight problems.
Amino Acid Profile
Depression and gastrointestinal problems, can be a result of disordered protein
(amino acid) metabolism. Amino acids are involved in many aspects of physiological
function.
Other test profiles that are available:
- Liver Detoxification Profile
- Cardiovascular Risk Assessment
- Chronic Fatigue Screen
- Insulin Resistance Profile
- Fatty Acid Profile
- Osteoporosis Risk Assessment
- Cholesterol
- Anaemia Profile
CDSA – digestive stool analysis
This can be a valuable screen for digestive function and markers of dysbiosis and Candida overgrowth. Imbalances in digestive health can lead to systemic and chronic illness. This test evaluates digestion, absorption and intestinal function.
Essential Fatty Acid analysis in red blood cells
Hormonal disorders, mental and behavioral disorders and depression may be due to essential fatty acid disorders.
Food Intolerance Testing
Blood tests for food intolerances and allergic conditions. Please see FOOD INTOLERANCE for more info.
Hair Mineral Analysis
This screen is useful for evaluating toxicity in the body.
Histamine
